It's about time!

Well, sorry...its about time I updated...There have been so many things that have gone on here since I updated last, I figured for those who still read this would like to know.

This past wednesday started the last semester of the 2006-2007 school year.  It seems like yesterday the first day of the fall semester started.  My, how time flies!

As many of you already know, we have a new president...please welcome...

 presidentmartin

Dr. Daniel Martin!

Dr. Daniel Martin has served in a number of roles in Nazarene higher education. Prior to going to Point Loma in 2000, he served at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan., in various roles such as the vice president for Finance, vice president for Enrollment Development and executive assistant to the president. Martin has two earned doctorate degrees in education from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Kansas. He also has a juris doctorate from the University of Kansas and a license with the Kansas Bar Association.(source www.mvnu.edu)

The students are very excited for a new outlook for Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  Dr. Martin has a great vision, and we as a school are very excited to see it come to pass.

The students here at MVNU have a hero, and his name is Chuck Norris.  The SGA has made shirts that commemorate Dr. Martin and compare his skills to Chuck Norris' skills.  Here is a brief example from facebook:

Dr. Dan Martin doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

Dr. Dan Martin counted to infinity - twice.

Dr. Dan Martin can win a game of Connect Four in only three moves.

Dr. Dan Martin does not get frostbite. Dr. Dan Martin bites frost.

So, basically we think Dr. Dan Martin is cool.

In Other news:

The MVNU men's basketball team is currently ranked 12th in the Nation and is smokin' hott right now.  MVNU admissions sponsors an event called "Slam Dunk's and Slices" which is designed just for you, High school students to come up and check out the campus, as well as get a chance to see a free basketball game and as well as FREE PIZZA!!!!  Bring your youth group, group of friends, or even your 'cool' parents...and come see what theme the student body here dresses as for the night.  I'm not going to explain...you have to come see for yourself.

At MVNU, we have just been accredited for a 4-year nursing degree here at MVNU.  This means, that before this happened, you would come here and then have to transfer to Capital and finish your degree there.  Now that we are accredited you can stay here all 4 years and finish your degree, and still be able to hang out with your friends and such....how cool is that?

Do you want to know what else is cool?  The very fact that you are reading this!  hahaha!

So, I leave you with a few links for you to check out while you are visiting me, MVNU...enjoy!

Its About time!

To my fellow readers, I am sorry I have left you hanging for these past 5 months...I am ever so sorry...

So in news, we had the cross country teams reinstated (both men's and women's) and they did a fantastic job representing our school.  Sadly, many of the fall sports are over, but we have basketball to look forward to. The men's team is ranked #14 in the NAIA preseason poll and the Women's team is looking strong with a 4-1 season start! Keep up the good work everyone..

Also, we have elected a new president.  Go to www.mvnu.edu to check out the bio and new information on Dr. Dan Martin, from PLNU (Point Loma Nazarene University).  He will be taking over the reins in February, while Dr. Fairbanks goes on Sabatical and eventually moves on to better things!

Dr. Fairbanks will be missed. He served here for 17 years!  Thank you Dr. Fairbanks!

We also have a new 4 year Nursing degree here!!! It's about time!

Sonfest was a blast.  Jeremy Camp was the headliner and overall the event went very well.

That is all for now...come visit me soon!
